With its Lightfield Backlighting technology, Leia created the basis for the next generation medium that lets users experience 3D imagery with a natural sensation of depth without using 3D glasses or eyewear. With Leia’s technology as a cornerstone RED Digital Cinema launched the Hydrogen One phone in 2018 to break into the smartphone market.
To support the launch of this ground-breaking technology, we developed an entire ecosystem of tools to enable third party developers to submit, publish and monetise their holographic games and applications onto the Hydrogen One. This body of work consisted of a full-blown web-based developer dashboard, with the main purpose to submit, publish and monitor applications. But developers could also retrieve documentation on Leia’s SDKs as well as our custom built In-app purchase and subscription SDK.
The other foundational piece of the project was an Android based marketplace application that ran as a system app on the Hydrogen One. Very similar to other application stores such as Google’s Play Store or Apple’s App Store, users can browse & search through categories of applications and games, purchase or download them, manage their subscriptions and leave reviews – all in 15+ languages.
